Let's go FISHING!

Our mission is to familiarize new fisherman or those with little to no experience with gear, tackle and techniques used in the local area.  On our various recreational outings we will learn about tying knots, bait choices between live, cut, or artificial, and how to pick a reliable rod and reel combination.  PEP scholarships will cover a rod, reel, and tackle purchase.  Recreational fishing for sport or dinner is available all over here in Southwest Florida.

The environment around us has many varieties of flora and fauna which works to build our ecosystem.  We will learn how the smallest of lifeforms such as algae and phytoplankton, to the largest of species, sharks and dolphins, are necessary to help the ecosystem thrive.  A living environment is a healthy environment.  Good conservation and being good stewards are our duty to our given planet and community around us.

Beach Fishing

Bring your own beverages, water is best, and a snack. Our goal is to enable young anglers to fish on their own when visiting beaches. We provide all the equipment and instruction, session will last 4 hours. We will cover passive and active fishing techniques as well as knot tying and leader rigging. From cast netting to bait casting we will teach about the vast ecology we encounter while fishing from shore. We will spend time learning about safe handling of wildlife as well as beach etiquette for sharing the beach with swimmers. With fishing comes regulations and restrictions. It is important to learn our laws so we continue good conservation practices. Beach fishing is how many anglers bring home clean delicious meat for the family.

Pier Fishing

Due to hurricane damage over past few years, we are limited on piers available. Piers in the Gulf and Intracoastal offer different fishing varieties with some crossover species. Some examples of fish who like the structures of piers are Sheepshead, Snapper, Sardines, Mackerel, Snook, and even sharks. When certain species are “in,” the pier can be a busy place with many fishermen. Learning pier etiquette and how to handle your lines around pier structure is very important. We provide all the equipment and instruction, session will last 4 hours. We will cover passive and active fishing techniques as well as knot tying and leader rigging.

Intracoastal Fishing

Fishing the intracoastal brings different species than the gulf. It is shallow, brackish, and full of life. Redfish, Snook, Mangrove Snapper, Tarpon, and many more are encountered. We provide all the equipment and instruction. We will teach passive and active fishing techniques as well as knot tying and leader rigging.

Coastal Fishing

Also know as near shore, we will be fishing in less than 40 feet of water. This is an intro to offshore fishing. We will learn the differences in boating and fishing near shore and coastal versus intracoastal. Species will vary throughout the year depending on what is moving through the area, all intracoastal species are possible as well as Cobia, Kingfish, Pompano, Sand Perch, and Lane Snapper. We provide all the equipment and instruction. We will cover passive and active fishing techniques as well as knot tying and leader rigging.

We've assembled a list of the questions most often asked by potential customers, ensuring that you can quickly access the answers you're looking for

We suggest a large water or a few bottles to stay hydrated.  We also suggest a snack or bag lunch to satisfy hunger.  Swim suits and towels are suggested for bathroom needs while away from shore.  We will have bottles of water for those who forgot theirs.  Air temperature should set what is comfortable for you to bring, hoodie or jacket for under 75f.

The boats will have a shade cover in the form of either a Bimini top or T-top.  We suggest long sleeve sun shirts, hats, and your approved sunblock.  We will have a zinc-based sunblock available for those who forgot their own.

There are no bathrooms on boats.  For intercoastal fishing, there are restrooms available at marinas, restaurants, and parks.  For coastal and offshore, the sea is what we must work with so we suggest wearing swim suits.  Most beach and pier fishing locations will have public restrooms nearby.

Legal fish may be kept.  We encourage it.  We will also provide suggested recipes for cooks new to cooking our various fish species.

For cancellations greater than 1 month away, we offer full refunds.  For cancellations less than a month, you may either reschedule for a different day or receive a 50% refund.  If the weather forces us to cancel there will be a full refund or we can reschedule for another day.

For most, ages 12 and up without an accompanying parent will be allowed.  We can make exceptions for preapproved families.  You know your kids and whether they can stay focused for the time we allot.  Getting fisherman reeling up fish is what we try for.  Sometimes the fishing is painfully slow.

Learning to clean fish is very important.  While we will clean your fish, we encourage learning how to clean your fish safely yourselves.  Some locations we visit will have cleaning stations available, others we will have to improvise.

In Florida, anglers under the age of 16 are not required to have a fishing license.  For those over the age of 16, licenses are available through the internet at gooutdoorsflorida.com.  It only takes a few minutes to complete the purchase.  We suggest either the Freshwater/Saltwater license at $32.50, or the Gone Fishing license at $61 (this provides special tags for Snook and Lobster as well as a hard card to keep on your person).

Of course.  We encourage memory building.  Be sure to take lots of photos.  For boat fishing, the cost will be the same for the fisherman.  For beach and piers, it is free to observe and learn.

Conditions that will result in cancellation are lightning, heavy rain, and tropical storm winds.  For offshore fishing we will only go out with 1-2ft seas or less.
